Vigil taking place for People Power supporter Rita Nabukenya

Members of the People Power pressure group are taking vigil at the home of the parents of the one of their own Rita Nalubega who died in the chaotic scenes early today.

Ritah Nabukenya  aka Priya 28, was traveling on a Boda boda registration number UEY 675Pon her way to attend a consultative meeting organised by their leader, the Kyadondo East MP Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine  at Pope Paul VI memorial Hotel in Ndeeba in the process  She was knocked around Nakawa market sustained serious injuries and died at Mulago hospital

The Police Deputy Spokesman for Kampala Metropolitan Area Luke Owoyesigyire said the alleged incident where Priya lost life that, it was caused by the police patrol vehicle registration number UP 4841 was wrong and intended to incite the public, ‘What happened Priya’s bodaboda that tried to overtake a police patrol collided with another boda boda in which Priya sustained serious injuries” however police did not give the number of the later bodaboda.

This was after Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu through his social media handle circulated information that. “Yet again, our supporter and leader in the people power movement has been run over and killed by police on her way to Ndeeba from Sseeta Mukono.

There was chaos in different parts of the city police battling People Power activists protesting the death of their colleague.

They reached up to the city mortuary demanding for the deceased’s body but police couldn’t let them inside leading to running battles at the hospital and around Kubiri, Kavule, Mawanda road, Kalerwe and Bwaise.

Later in the evening Police released the body and they took it to Bunamwaya where the night vigil is taking place.
