The Uganda Peoples Defense Force-UPDF Reserve Force Commander, Lt Gen Charles Awany Otema has indirectly rallied the people of Kazo district to prepare the former Security Minister, late Gen. Elly Tumwine’s son for the parliamentary elections come 2026.

Gen. Otema was delivering his keynote address while representing the UPDF Chief of Defense Forces, General Wilson Mbasu Mbadi at the late Tumwine’s burial ceremony today in Mukuru village, Rwemikoma Sub-county, Kazo district.

Otema says that David Tumwine, the son of Gen. Tumwine should be prepared for the next general elections to represent the district in memory and console the family.

He cited the incident that happened in Omoro district where Andrew Ojok Oulanyah, the son of the late former Speaker of Parliament Jacob Oulanyah was elected to replace his father as the Omoro County Member of Parliament.

The Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja who has been the chief mourner at the burial ceremony reminded the remaining UPDF generals to emulate the late Tumwine by guiding the young generation on avoiding scenarios that can destabilize the country.

Meanwhile, the State Minister for Defense Jacob Oboth Oboth who represented the Cabinet Minister for Defense Vincent Bamulangaki Ssempijja, appealed to Ugandans to ensure they guard the peace and stability that the late Gen. Tumwine stood for and fought for jealousy.
