The Uganda People’s Congress UPC has called upon the independent Electoral Commission, security agencies and other stakeholders to ensure the Dokolo Woman Member of Parliamentary by-election is free from any forms of election malpractice.

In this by-election, UPC is represented by Sara Aguti Nyangkori who emerged the official party flag bearer following the UPC District Conference on February 19, 2024 at Dokolo Catholic Parish.

While speaking to media on Wednesday at the party headquarters, the UPC Spokesperson Sharon Oyat Arach noted that unlawful practices like election malpractices, arrests and violence that have been witnessed in the recent by-elections shouldn’t be tolerated in Dokolo.

Oyat however assured the public that the way they protected the Oyam by-election is the same way they are going to guard their votes in Dokolo.

She therefore called upon all their members not to fear but to line up and vote for their candidate Nyongkori as their next district woman member of Parliament for Dokolo.

The seat became vacant after Cecilia Ogwal’s passing last month while serving in Parliament under the FDC banner. The by-election is scheduled for the 21st of this month.

The Dokolo by-election, triggered by the vacancy left by the former Woman MP’s demise, has sparked significant political interest and discussions in the district.
