The opposition Uganda People’s Congress (UPC) has defied sister opposition party Forum for Democratic Change’s (FDC) proposal to support the late Cecilia Ogwal’s daughter in the forthcoming Dokolo District Women Parliamentary by-election.

This comes after FDC rallied opposition political parties to support Dr. Alwoc Ogwal who they unveiled as flag bearer to continue her mother’s legacy in the district.

While addressing journalists at Uganda house in Kampala, Faizo Muzeeyi the head of media and communications at UPC said, politics of inheritance was abolished by the party in Oyam county and so going to happen in Dokolo.

Muzeeyi says the FDC proposal would have been good but it’s important to give the People of Dokolo to vote for people who will give those services but not working for their families.

He has disclosed that UPC is an independent party which doesn’t depend on other political party ideologies.

Meanwhile Muzeeyi has called upon the Electoral Commission, security and political parties to create an environment of free and fair elections, before, during and after elections.
