UPC Faction led by Peter Walubiri launches campaigns.

The Uganda People Congress (UPC) faction led by Council Peter Walubiri has appointed the party Electoral Commission under the Chairmanship of Hamza Sewankambo to organize the district conferences and delegates conference under the Court of Appeal’s orders for the new leadership elections.

In August this year, Jimmy Akena was re-elected as the party President by the members of his faction at Kasangati Resort hotel in Wakiso district in a delegate’s conference held in contempt of an order issued by the Court of Appeal which had stopped it.

Addressing the media in Kampala, Tom Omino the envoy for communication and mobilization of this faction, says that the party won’t even participate in the forth coming general elections at presidential level due to the protracted civil litigations with the sole purpose of establishing a legitimate leadership of the party.

Meanwhile, the party equally registers its displeasure with the manner in which the Uganda Police, military and the Local Defence Unit harassed the two Presidential Candidates Robert Kyagulanyi and Patrick Oboi Amuriat hence reminding the EC Chairman Justice Simon Byabakama to ensure the elections reflect the spirit of the law.
