The State Minister for Higher Education John Chrysostom Muyingo has warned schools which have allowed non candidates back to school to stop before they are arrested.

Speaking at the sidelines of  the launch of a new Private school owners body; the Association of Owners of Private Schools (AOPS) meeting in Kampala today, Muyingo said that there are reports that private schools are allowing none candidates to study, something he says is wrong and against the guidelines set by the President when he announced the reopening of schools.

Muyingo now reminds school owners to be extra responsible and avoid violating the Covid-19 Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) adding that this puts learners in danger.

He further asks them to help none candidates learn from home until Government allows them back to school.

This was after the Association Chairperson, Mike Kironde for private schools requested Government to allow schools to open to other learners than only candidates whom government allowed to return to school yet the expenses on them are far high yet they spent 6 months not working.

The establishment of the association has emerged as a result of Covid-19 pandemic which hit the education sector very hard.

The association is now targeting 10,000 members in the first three years with hope of attracting all the existing 100,000 private schools across the country.
