In the struggle to manage the rising cases of Covid-19 cases in Uganda the latest information indicates that an immigration officer at the boarder point of Elegu between Uganda and South Sudan has also tested positive.

This brings the number of high level staff who have tested positive for the deadly pandemic to 8, the first being; two medical doctors, two health consultants and three nurses from Lira hospital and are currently admitted at Mulango and Entebbe grade B hospitals.

Jacob Siminyu, the Ministry of Internal Affairs Spokesperson confirms that their officer was rushed to Mulago hospital on confirming his cell status while the other officers that are regarded as contacts are being quarantined and replaced to enable smooth operations at the borders.

He further cautions immigration officers on duty to be extra cautious to avoid contracting the disease.

Uganda’s positive cases are now totaling to over 457.

 

President Museveni is expected to address the nation this evening at 8pm on the governments take ahead of the promised opening of the public transport on June 4th as he indicated in his last address.
