The Presidential advisor on epidemics and pandemics Dr. Monica Musenero has warned Ugandans against politicising the ongoing Covid-19 vaccination exercise.

Uganda has so far got close to a million doses, over 800,000 doses through the Covax facility for universal access to Covid-19 vaccine free of charge with priority given to teachers, health workers, security and elderly who stand a high risk of infection and death incase they contracted Coronavirus.

While appearing on Radio Sapientia Political talk show Omulongoti Dr. Musenero said the Covid-19 vaccine specifically AstraZenaca that has been imported in Uganda from India is safe and a few alleged challenges amongst those vaccinated elsewhere in the world cannot be directly linked to the vaccine.

Dr.  Musenero says the fears that President Museveni is still sceptical of the safety of the vaccine is wrong it was through their advise to him not to be seen as the first beneficiary but he will also be vaccinated. She added that Uganda’s drug UBV-01N that is still under clinical trial is proving serous in treating those proved to be having Covid-19 at Mulango National Referral Hospital.

It is exactly one year today March 18th 2021 since Uganda joined other countries on March 18th 2020 to announced control measures against the spread of the deadly pandemic by President Yoweri Museveni who enforced among others, closure of schools, banned public transport, social gatherings and curfew.
