Uganda’s High Commission in Tanzania has joined in to mourn President John Pombe Magufuli.
The Magufuli 61, a Professor of Chemistry passed on last evening in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania after reportedly battling with a heart complication.
The Vice President Samia Saluhi Hassan announced Dr. Magufuli’s death in an official broadcast nearly midnight last evening.
In the streets of Dar es Salaam there is a sombre mood as Tanzanians mourn their President.
President Magufuli from the ruling party Chama Chama Pindunzi CCM had just secured his second 5 year political term in office in 2020 having served the first term since 2015.
Vice president Samia Saluhi Hassan from Zanzibar is taking over as the first president of Tanzania from an autonomous region of Zamzibar.
Presidents; Yoweri Museveni of Uganda, Paul Kagame of Rwanda, Uhuru Kenyatta of Kenya, Prime Minister Boris Johnson of UK have all sent condolence messages
