Over 160 Ugandans from Qatar have arrived at Entebbe international Air port.

 

The Uganda’s embassy in Qatar set off a total of   167 Ugandan Nationals  who have been stranded  due to the Covid-19 pandemic that led to  the closure of Entebbe International airport to passenger flights on March 24, 2020.

 

Earlier in April, the Embassy undertook the registration process of Ugandan Nationals who were stranded in Qatar and coordinated with Qatar Airlines for their repatriation flight which arrived at Entebbe this evening July 24th July 2020 around 8.40 pm.

 

This is one of the many repatriation exercises being undertaken in coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Missions abroad for Ugandan nationals who were stranded abroad due to the COVID-19 Pandemic to return home. Among them is the celebrity Artiste Edirisah Musuza a.k.a Eddy Kenzo who was trapped in Ivory Cost since April 2020.

 

Uganda’s Ambassador to Qater Dr. Stephen Chemoiko Chebrot, expressed gratitude to President Museveni for making it possible for Ugandans to return home as well as the leadership of Foreign Affairs Ministry in Uganda and Qatar for the support extended to the returnees.

 

By July 4, 2020 Over 600 Ugandans had returned in the ongoing government process that will see it return over 2300 Ugandans stranded abroad over the current Coronavirus pandemic that saw several airports and borders closed as a measure to combat the spread of the virus.

They have come from as far as America, U.K, United Arab Emirates, Abu Dhabi, Dubai, South Africa, Eswatini, Namibia, Lesotho, Botswana and Zimbabwe among others.
