The Ministry of Internal Affairs is set to open up a passport office at the Ugandan Embassy in Washington DC for Ugandans staying in America.

 

Timothy Atwine, the Deputy Public Relations Officer at the Ministry of Internal Affairs says that the passport office at Washington DC will be opened up tomorrow 29th Mar 2022.

 

Atwine revealed that the new passport office at Washington DC is intended to extend Ministry of internal affairs services nearer to the people living in America.

 

Timothy Atwine also maintained that the Ministry of internal affairs will enforce the transition of moving from machine readable passports to electronic passports on 4th April 2022 but he clarified that Ugandans in Diaspora with old passports but who afford to get a new one will only be given a chance of returning home

 

Meanwhile Timothy Atwine revealed that the legal department at the Ministry is enhancing operations on foreigners who have continued to stay in the country illegally.
