The Uganda’s Joint Security team is on high alert on monitoring the security situation at Bunagana boarder in Kisoro district following the heavy redeployment of the Armed Forces of the Democratic Republic of the Congo – FARDC around the area in Eastern DRC.

This is due to the clashes between M23 rebels and the Congolese army continues after attacks on Sunday last week against positions in Tchanzu and Runyonyi in Rutshuru territory in North Kivu near Uganda’s boarder Bunagana.

Fred Enanga, the Police Spokesperson says that the situation hasn’t normalized in Bunagana but the Uganda’s joint security team is working with various stakeholders to monitor and ensure protection to civilians in the area.

Meanwhile, Enanga also revealed that the security agencies are still monitoring the situation in Karamoja region as the lawful disarmament operations continue where 8 more guns were recovered in the course of last week.
