The Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) party has urged Government to ensure return of stolen livestock to the rightful owners in the Karamoja sub-region.

While briefing the media at their party headquarters at Najjanankumbi in Kampala, Patrick Oboi Amuriat, the FDC President has cautioned the government on its fight against cattle rustling in the Karamoja region which may result into a serious war.

Amuriat also revealed that since cattle rustling began in that region, very many residents have been killed and large numbers of livestock have been stolen which has affected the people of Karamoja socially, economically and politically.

He also added that, the rustlers are mainly operating in districts of Kapelebyong, Katakwi, Kumi, Bukedea, Abim and Agago of which, 291 have been arrested and prosecuted.

Meanwhile, the FDC has welcomed the move by the Democratic Republic of Congo to join the East African Community saying it will foster peace and unity amongst the member states and also widens the markets for Ugandan produce.
