Preparations for the event to receive the body of fallen Speaker of Parliament Jacob Oulanyah at Parliament are almost done.

 

Oulanyah who died three weeks ago in Seattle, USA will on Tuesday be laid in state at Parliament and on Wednesday the body will be taken to Kololo for public viewing and after it will be airlifted to his home district of Omoro where he will be buried on Friday.

 

A 10,000 sitter tent, huge screens, lighting and chairs have been put in parliament‘s parking space where the special sitting will be held.

 

Speaking to the Director Communications at Parliament Chris Obore, he says Oulanyah’s body will arrive at Parliament at 9am where it will stay till the following morning, and by 2pm plenary will kick off.

 

Meanwhile, the general public will be allowed to pay tribute to the late on condition that they follow the Covid-19 Standard Operating Procedures.

 

The Uganda Police Force has ensured heavy deployment at Kololo Ceremonial grounds where over 15000 mourners are expected to attend the vigil as well as at Oulanyah’s Muyenga home and his burial place at Lalogi village in Omoro district.

 

Fred Enanga, the Police Spokesperson says there will be through checks by security operatives which mourners have to comply with.
