The Food and Hungry-FH Canada has donated to the Ministry of Health at least 4.5 million doses of de-wormers valued at 601 million shillings to support the priority actions in the Uganda Nutrition Action Plan II 2020 -2025.
Dorothy Namayanja, the Program Delivery Manager for FH says the de-worming medication donated targeting children from 1 to 14 years in the forthcoming Integrated Child Health days in April this year.
She says that these doses contribute 20 percent of the national need of 24 million doses in the child health days campaign.
Dr Charles Olaro, the Director General Health Services in the Ministry of Health while receiving the donation at the ministry in Kampala today noted that there still a high burden of anemia at 53% in children under 5years and 32% in women of reproductive age.
Samali Namukose, the Assistant Commissioner Nutrition Division of Ministry of Health says that the ministry is committed to ensure that the nutrition and other health supplies by various donors are managed and fully integrated into the national supply chain through the National Medical Stores.
