The Speaker of parliament Anita Among has today confirmed Uganda’s readiness to host the Conference of Speakers and Presiding Officers of the commonwealth 2024.
Addressing journalists at parliament, Speaker Among said that 45 speakers and presiding officers out of the 74 expected from 52 countries have already confirmed their attendance.
The function will be held at Munyonyo commonwealth speak resort from 3 to 6th of January 2024.
The function will officially opened by President Museveni on 4th of the same month.
Speaker Among says some of the topics to be discussed are Environment and climate change challenges, Youth and Gender, Security, Health and others.
Some of the objectives of CSPOC2024 include maintaining, foster and encourage fairness impartiality on part of speakers, promote knowledge and understand parliamentary democracy and Develop parliamentary systems.
