The Minister for Health Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng says that Uganda have gradually registered a good progress in reducing the disease burden with over 70 percent preventable diseases managed.

This was after a breakfast meeting with a delegation of members of Parliament from Nordic countries of Denmark, Norway, Iceland and Sweden at Sheraton Hotel in Kampala who are in Uganda to monitor and evaluate health project.

She says that these countries have continuously funded the health sector through Gavi, the Gates Foundation, the Global Fund, and UNICEF that has widened the health budget to the extent that now only HIV/AIDs has about 286mshs.

The Minister says the mission aims to showcase the collaborations and partnerships that exist at the country level, while further strengthening political support and commitments for global health from the Nordic countries.

The mission lead by the Minister further met the Deputy Speaker of Parliament Jacob Oulanya at Parliament and provided the visiting parliamentarians with a unique opportunity to experience first-hand the impact of global health programmes on the ground.
