Government has disowned the previous statements that it was envisioning the construction of a power dam along Murchison falls.

Appearing before the parliamentary committee of Natural Resource, the Minister of Energy Simon D’ujanga said that he is only aware of the Uhuru park site that is 600 miles away from Murchison fall along river Nile that is being proposed for a dam.

Furthermore the committee also leant that the company which was contracted to carry out a feasibility study for the viability of the dam was the same company interested in constructing the dam at Murchison falls.

However when asked, the minister denied knowledge of the process of awarding the same company the deal, referring them to the Electricity Regulatory Authority (ERA) which caused the chairperson of the committee Keefa Kiwanuka to adjourn the meeting to Wednesday next week.

The said contracted company is BONANGA from South Africa.
