Uganda’s Joint Anti- Terrorism Task Force has intensified security patrols along the border points of the Eastern side of the Democratic Republic of Congo-DRC to avoid any possible terror attacks from the Allied Democratic Force -ADF rebels.

This comes after the ADF terrorists allegedly attacked one of the Pentecostal churches at Lubirira in Kasindi, just 4km inside the DRC away from the Uganda border Mpondwe and exploded a bomb that left 7 worshipers dead and 40 others nursing serious injuries.

Fred Enanga, the Police Spokesperson says that the joint security agencies including the Uganda Peoples Defense Forces- UPDF, Counter Terrorism Police, and Chieftaincy of Military Intelligence -CMI among others are seriously monitoring the country’s borderline to ensure safety for Ugandans.

Enanga says since the double attack at the Kampala Central Police Station -CPS and Parliamentary Avenue in the previous 425 days, they have managed to sabotage a number of rebel groups created in the areas of Ntoroko, Nabweru, Luwero, Butambala and Kikuube among others.

He says that they have continued conducting patrols in Bugoma forests which have been used to plan attacks on Ugandans and also increased security in Kasese, Kikuube and Ntoroko which are transit routes for groups of terrorists from DRC.

Enanga has noted that there have been 29 terror related incidents which have occurred in this country and are under investigations with several terror cells dismantled and several terror suspects arrested.
