The Government sets to deliver the first bunch of Covid-19 vaccines in Uganda between March and April this year.

This was revealed in the meeting at parliament between the parliamentary Health committee and ministry of Health officials led by state minister of Health Robonah Nabanjja in company with the PS Diana Atwine and other officials.

Atwine said that the government of Uganda working together with GAVI is to deliver 63000 dozes that will be first given to doctors, elderly people and persons with other complicated diseases.

She however says that the government in the coming financial year hasn’t ear marked any funds to procure Covid-19 vaccine and apparently they are relying on donations from GAVI.

Atwine says the ministry has now already signed all agreements with GAVI and all applications have been approved however some of the terms is that Uganda will be responsible for the liabilities out of the vaccine but not the donor patterned.

Still in the same committee chaired by Micheal Bukenya the members tasked the health officials to explain the way about masks that were met to benefit the public.

In reply Atwine said that the challenge they faced was the release in funds by the ministry of finance to pay the manufacturers which affected the distribution of masks.

Apparently out of 146 districts only 83 have been given masks.
