Rubaga Division Mayor Joyce Nabossa Ssebugwawo has warned that commercialisation of politics and elections are bound to cause the country bad leaders.

 

Immediately after casting her vote in today’s Municipality/City Division Chairpersons and Councilors at LCIII level for the same post of Rubaga Division Mayor-ship Nabossa said that this election has witnessed candidates dishing out a lot of money during campaigns due to the scientific nature of elections which has denied many a chance to elect good leaders.

Ssebugwawo adds next time the electoral commission must provide for a leveled ground such that leaders are elected on merit not due to money but appreciated Ugandans to have participated peacefully in all elections.

 

Contestants for Kawempe Division Mayor-ship seat have also decried against some elements of malpractices registered at certain polling stations.

 

The position has six candidates contesting include the incumbent Mayor Emmanuel Sserunjogi Musoke of the National Unity Platform (NUP), Muhammad Mutazindwa (FDC), Juma Wasswa (NRM), Ramadan Lukwago (DP), Ashraf Kiwanuka Jjuuko and Isaac Kyazze both independents.

 

Speaking to Sserunjogi after casting his vote at Lufula-Bwaise polling station near Kawempe division headquarter, said that some unknown people suspected to be army officers were deployed and voted at UCTU polling station in Mulago yet they are not eligible voters in that area.

 

FDC’s Mutazindwa said that though some of his opponents wanted to engage into malpractices, chances of him winning the elections are high visavie the umbrella wave.

 

The DP’s Ramadan Lukwago also expressed his belief that this time round he is to be the Mayor of Kawempe division.
