Politicians have joined a section of many other Ugandans and the Catholic Church in Uganda to mourn the demise of Bishop Emeritus of Masaka Diocese Rt. Rev. John Baptist Kaggwa.

Masaka Municipality Member of Parliament Matthias Mpuuga says the church and the country have lost a role model who always stood his ground on truth.

Mpuuga who looked so saddened and shaken by the death of Bishop Kaggwa while at parliament, said that the late was a man of God who condemned all forms of injustices, unfairness and inhuman tortures.

On his behalf and the new constituency he has been elected to represent in the 11th parliament, Masaka City, Mpuuga sent his sincere condolences to the people of Masaka and the entire Catholic Church for losing such a man.

Earlier on, in a statement via his social media platform, Dr. Warren Kiiza Besigye, the four times former Presidential candidate and Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) party President regarded the fallen Bishop as an all-round strong leader and a true man of God who will hugely missed by the country at large.

Bishop Kaggwa who died yesterday of Covid-19 according to medics at Mulago hospital retired from active service in 2018 and was succeeded by Bishop Severus Jjumba on July 6, 2019.

Burial arrangements released indicate that tomorrow January 22, 2021 there will be requiem mass at Lugaba Cathedral at 11am and at Kitovu cathedral at 5pm then on Saturday the last mass before the final send off will be held at Bukalasa Seminary stating at 11am followed by burial at 2pm.
