Three KCCA councilors have been further remanded to Kitalya prison by Buganda Road Magistrates Court after their sureties failed to bring proper documents for their bail applications.

 

The trio; Richard Sembatya, Charles Mpindi and Mushin Kakande were sent back to jail until February 17th 2022 when they will re-appear in Court.

 

The trio has been on remanded together with six others who have been granted a cash bail of 500,000 shillings and their sureties bonded 2 million shillings not cash.

 

Court presided over by the Grade One Magistrate Sanula Nambozo granted bail to the sic councilors who included; Mosh Africkan Ssendi, Nusur Masaba, Paul Kato, Charles Mpindi, Moses Kataabu and Faisal Kibirige.

 

According to the evidence before Court the Councilors are accused of inciting members of public to riot against KCCA enforcement officials who were removing vendors off the streets of Kampala City.

 

The Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago, who is one of the lawyers representing the accused persons, is hopeful that all the councilors will be out by Thursday when they return to court.

 

The court proceedings were conducted via a zoom video link from Kitalya prison.
