The Rector of St. Mary’s National Major Seminary Ggaba Fr. Luyinda celebrates 25 years in priesthood.

The Rector of St. Mary’s National Major Seminary Ggaba Rev. Fr. Dr. Lazarus Luyinda has celebrated 25 years in priesthood with gratitude for his contribution in the priestly formation in Uganda.

A son of the little known late Mr Pantaleo Kabogoza and Mrs Nalubega Kabogoza of Namyoya Misindye in Mukono District, Fr. Luyinda a priest of Kasana Luweero Diocese has exhibited a high degree of understanding, development and service as a priest in Katikamu Parish and later as a Chancellor of Kasana Luweero diocese before heading for studies abroad.

In a thanks giving mass led by silver jubilarian Fr. Luyinda and the homily given by Fr. Kabona Lawrence Yawe Mudduse at his parents home in Namyoya Misindye in Mukono district, Fr. Mudduse explained that After the completion of his Doctoral studies in the USA and Germany, Fr. Luyinda came back and posted at St. Paul’s National Major Seminary Kinyamasika in Fort portal as rector in 2007 where he “planted, pruned and uprooted” those under his care for the Catholic Church to get the best priests to serve his peoples.

In 2019 Fr. Luyinda was appointed rector of St. Mary’s National Major Seminary Ggaba where he has also exhibited a high degree of performance all aimed at having priests for the modern church that feels and caters for the needs of the people.

His silver jubilee celebrations today has been attended by Bishop Emeritus of Lugazi diocese Rt. Rev. Matthias Ssekamanya, Bishop of Lugazi diocese Rt. Rev. Christopher Kakooza, Diocesan Administrator of Kasana Luweero diocese Msgr. Francis Exevior Mpanga, priests and the religious among other special guests.

Fr. Luyinda was born in 1968, started is studied from within the area at St. Charles Lwanga Primary School Bukerere and later joined  Nyenga Seminary in 1983, then joined Katigondo in 1989 and later sent for further studies in Rome and returned for his priestly ordination in 1997 as a priest of Lugazi diocese but shortly after was sent to Kasana Luweero diocese given the need for priestly services.
