A street beggar identified as Hamza Farouk Kintu who was arrested from the streets of Kampala with a gun has been sent back on remand at Luzira prison until 26thJuly 2023 due to the absence of the prosecutor.
He had come for mention of his case before the Buganda Road Court Grade One Magistrate Sienna Owomugisha, but the case failed to proceed due to the absence of Lydia Nakato the state prosecutor.
The 43 year old Kintu alias Tonny Anthony Mayambala Mugabi; who moves in a wheelchair is facing charges of being in possession of a fire arm without a valid certificate and unlawful possession of Government stores.
He was arrested around Kalungi Plaza in Kampala Central Division in April this year.
Kintu was further found in possession of UPDF uniform, rain jackets and Uganda Police Force Boots(shoes) all bearing the mark of these security agencies; which may reasonably be suspected of having been stolen or unlawfully obtained.
However, Kintu denies the charges and today court was supposed to start hearing his case.
