Two armed robbers who were part of a youth gang that had hatched a plan of waylaying and robbing people especially whites and Indians especially during traffic jam; have been committed to the High Court to start trial over charges of Aggravated Robbery.

Yasin Ssemanda and Sam Oketcho alias Simple had been jointly charged with a retired Captain Vincent Sunday and a one Daniel Kimbugwe but charges against the latter have been dropped and set free due to lack of evidence.

Prosecution led by Ivan Kyazze tendered in the indictment plus summary of the evidence before the Buganda Road Court Chief Magistrate Ronald Kayizzi detailing how the accused persons waylaid two employees of Ruparelia Group Bukoto; the Accountant Manager Vijay Murlidhar Dayna and the Office Assistant Keno Sam along Sezibwa road opposite South Sudan Embassy in Kampala.

The group of seven armed with a knife and traveling on four motorcycles;  attacked the victims who were also travelling on a motorcycle UDW 543V going to the Head Office Crane Chambers, Nakasero Kampala ordered them to stop and one of them got out a knife he used to threaten them; with orders to the accountant to get off the motorcycle as they assaulted him and was left unstable and consciousness.

His bag containing a Samsung phone, official documents and other personal belongings was snatched from him by the men who then rode off their motorcycles to a direction towards the Italian Embassy.

Boda Boda riders who witnessed the crime tried to chase the robbers as they called the police for assistance  a Police Patrol Car intercepted the group around Mulago Round about chased the robbers who were riding on motorcycle UFJ 152W and arrested them around Yusuf Lule road and Mulago road opposite the mortuary gate. They were identified as Yasin Ssemanda and Sam Oketcho.

It is against this background that presiding Buganda road Court Chief Magistrate Kayizzi Ronald has committed them to the High Court for trial at the next convenient criminal session.

They were sent back on remand at Luzira Upper Prison to wait for their trail.
