Government has refuted claims that the notorious criminal Paddy Sserunjogi alias Sobi was a government employee working closely with the security forces.
Godfrey Kabyanga, the State Minister for Information, Communication, Technology and National Guidance made this statement during a press conference at the Uganda Media Centre in Kampala on Wednesday.
Sobi, a self-confessed former leader of a criminal gang in Kampala known as Kifeesi was killed on Monday, December 18 in a botched land eviction in Maddu, Gomba district.
Kabyanga noted that public servants are given letters that clearly stipulate their roles and duties and how they should be executed, which Sobi didn’t have.
He however condemned mob justice that was exercised on Sobi yet residents had alternatives of solving the land problem than taking the law in their hands.
The Minister further appeals to the relatives and family members of Sobi to be patient as police investigate circumstances that led to this death.
