Police are currently evaluating a total of 27 private Security Organizations with intent to suspend some of them and also cancel their licenses for noncompliance with the Standard Operating Procedures.

According to police, this is due to increasing cases of poor performance by Private Security companies where many individual Security guards have got involved in various criminalities while others have lost their guns to criminal elements.

Fred Enanga the Police Spokesperson says they have also observed a repeated tendency of lone deployment of Private security guards with continuous poor holding of the guns while walking which puts them at risk.

Enanga says seven companies of these 27 are likely to have their licenses canceled while 20 of them will be suspended.

He says that they have also directed their territorial police commanders to start arresting and confiscating guns from private security guards they find moving alone.

Meanwhile, Police have warned against an increase in the manipulation of Police uniforms by Private Security Companies, bouncers and political parties especially the National Unity Platform (NUP) which are making them look like police officers yet it is illegal.
