The Rubaga Division Deputy Resident City Commissioner -RCC for Anderson Burora has petitioned the Ministry of Internal Affairs requesting to deny visas to five Kampala Capital City Authority- KCCA officials he accuses of having engaged into anomalies surrounding the compensation of victims of Lubigi drainage construction project.

This comes after in November last year, Buroro halted the process of giving out Parish Development Model (PDM) Funds in Rubaga Division due to lack of transparency among KCCA technical staff.

Speaking to the press at his offices in Rubaga today, Burora declined to reveal names of the officials but indicated that the suspects of these illegal compensations are planning to run out of the country yet they are under investigations.

He says that during the compensation process the genuine victims who were affected by the construction project of Lubigi drainage were neglected and not paid yet the Authority has always been compensating people.

Burora demands that the compensated list people be released and displayed to discover the genuine and ghost victims.

The Lubigi drainage construction project is implemented under the World Bank funded Kampala infrastructure Institutions Development Project -KIIDP II and the government of Uganda.

The World Bank provided USD183.7m to KCCA to conduct studies, carry out engineering works, constriction of drainage, roads and capacity building. Planned works of Lubigi and Nakamiro channels are estimated to cost at least 80 billion shillings.

Meanwhile, Burora has revealed that this year his office is to focus on carrying out thorough operations on illegal buildings constructed without plans and also ensure that Rubaga division revenue increases to over 13billion shillings.
