The Deputy Speaker of Parliament Thomas Tayebwa has summoned the Minister for Kampala Hajati Minsa Kabanda to report to parliament with a comprehensive report explaining about a 288 million USD loan aimed at improving the road network in Kampala.

This comes after last month the Executive Director for the Kampala Capital City Authority, Dorothy Kisaka indicated they secured a loan of 288 million shillings which is approximately One trillion shillings from the African Development Bank for the construction of about 70 kilometers of roads within Kampala’s five Divisions.

Kisaka also indicated that the Authority has no funds to maintain the 2,100 kilometers of roads in Kampala City and they cannot hire contractors to carry out the repairs anymore since the KCCA is heavily indebted from work that was done on credit.

While delivering his communication, Tayembwa raised this as a matter of concern from the complaints registered from the public on the increasing potholes in Kampala City which has made the roads impassable.
