Rev. Dr. Bukomeko elected Bishop of Mityana diocese in COU

The house of Bishops of the Church of Uganda has elected Rev. Dr. James Bukomeko Salongo as the new bishop of Mityana Diocese.

Rev. Dr. Bukomeko has been the Parish Priest of St. Stevens Nansana Parish Kazo Archdeaconry Namirembe diocese.

Rev. Dr. Bukomeko is replacing Dr. Stephen Kaziimba Mugalu who was elected as the 9th Archbishop of Church of Uganda in August this year having served for almost 11 years as Bishop of Mityana diocese.

Dr. Kaziimba will take over from Most Reverend Stanley Ntagali on March 1, 2020 at St Paul’s Cathedral, Namirembe.

The announcement of Rev. Dr. Bukomeko Salongo who is the 5^th Bishop of Mityana diocese has been made this afternoon at the Provincial Secretariat in Namirembe, Kampala and will be enthroned on February 2^nd 2020 at St. Andrews Cathedral Mityana.
