The Uganda Prison Service have clarified on allegations surrounding the death of there officer, Rajab Obilil.

This follows media reports indicating that the 28-year old Prison Warder drowned in a fishpond while attempting to steal fish in Kayunga district.

It is reported that the deceased attached to Bulaula Prison in Kayunga district along with a colleague had been assigned to guard the fishpond last night but they chose to secretly try and catch fish using a hook without authorization and Obilil slipped into the pond and died.

Frank Baine, the Prison Spokesperson says that Obilil accidently fell into the irrigation dam he was guarding and not a fishpond as was earlier reported.

Meanwhile, Baine has disclosed that they also lost a wardress identified as Scovia Angu who was found strangled near the Mid-North Region of Otuke in Lira and two suspects including; Francis Otim and Jolly Okello have been arrested while the main suspect Oscar Omara is still at large.

Police and UPS have said Omara has been in and out of jail because of robbery, theft and murders related crimes.
