The Office of the President is seeking 7 7billion shillings in the coming financial year for the construction of Resident District Commissioners (RDCs) offices across the country.

This has been revealed by the Security Minister Jim Muwhezi while appearing before the parliamentary Presidential Affairs committee chaired by Jessica Ababiku as they presented their budget framework paper for the year 2023/2024.

Muwhezi said that out of the 146 RDCs, the government rents offices for 131 and only owns 15 offices.

He says this has continued affecting the operational budget of the RDCs especially where rent is increased by landlords yet if money is provided, the government can construct its own offices and save the country from such expenses.

The Office of the President now requests for 7bn to enable it to construct at least 10 offices per year contrary to the one office they have been constructing per year.
