The office of the President has requested 423billion shillings in the forthcoming financial year 2023/2024 for the procurement of Medals.
Appearing before the Parliamentary Presidents Affairs Committee chaired by Jessica Ababiku, the minister of Security Jim Muwhezi said that the awards committee lacks money to purchase National medals awarded to invited presidents on National functions which is an embarrassment to the president of the country.
The money will also be used to purchase other National Honor and award medals given to different categories on national events.
Meanwhile the same office has asked for 5bn shillings for maintenance of the National Leadership Institute-NALI in Kyankwanzi.
The Minister Informed the committee that the government spent 7.9bn in rehabilitating and constructing new accommodation facilities which need to be maintained regularly to last longer.
