In these remaining weeks, the organizing committee is in final preparation meetings for the installation and consecration of the 3rd Bishop of Kasana- Luweero Catholic Diocese.

The occasion is slated for the 5th August when Msgr. Lawrence Mukasa the current Vicar General of Kiyinda-Mityana diocese will take over as the new Ordinary Bishop of Kasana- Luweero diocese at the diocesan Cathedral.

The administrator of the diocese Msgr. Francis Xavier Mpanga says the preparations are going on smoothly with a call to the well-wishers to support a budget of Shs 700 million set to make the occasion colorful.

Kasana- Luweero diocese is one of the 19 Catholic dioceses in Uganda established in 1996.

His Holiness, now Saint Pope John Paul II announced the erection of Kasana Luweero diocese on 30th November 1996 and on 1st March 1997, His Eminence Emmanuel Cardinal Wamala who by then was the Archbishop of Kampala officially inaugurated it.

Cardinal Wamala ordained the late Dr Cyprian Kizito Lwanga who by then was a Monsignor, as the first Bishop of this Diocese where he served until 2006 before he was appointed Archbishop of Kampala.

In 2008 the diocese got the second Bishop Msgr. Paul Ssemogerere who served until January 2022 replacing the late Archbishop Cyprian Kizito Lwanga who died in April 2021.
