Pope Francis has rallied communities in the new year 2019, to remember the many men and women who are living in inhumane conditions and suffering from addiction.

In his new year’s message Pope Francis says people need to recall that Christ came into the world to bring love, justice, peace, and freedom to all by eradicating from the heart of man the long-standing slavery of sin, and restore his dignity.

He says every one must stop and reflect with pain and repentance because, last year 2018, so many men and women have lived and do live in conditions of slavery unworthy of human beings.”

In a brief homily during Vespers in St. Peter’s Basilica, Pope Francis urged Catholics to think of those who do not have a home, especially during the harsh winter months.

Pope Francis also prayerfully entrusted troubled families to the protection of the Holy Family of Nazareth and offered his advice for healing family wounds by avoiding amazement and anguish and opening up for solutions because unity in the family is the development of the world.
