Police has cautioned all road users to be extra careful while using the roads as accident cases continue to rise ahead of Easter festivals and school breaking off for holidays.

 

This follows a report by Traffic and Road Safety Police released on today indicating that 86 people lost their lives in accidents in one week, between April 3rd -9th, 2022.

 

In the same week, a total of 370 accidents occurred of which 72 were fatal, 193 serious while 105 were minor.

During this period, there were 362 accident victims and out of these 86 people died while 276 sustained injuries.

Faridah Nampiima, the Traffic Police Spokesperson says that season of schools breaking off for holidays is usually characterized by the volume of vehicles and persons movement on the road which requires proper planning for travelers.

Nampiima reminded on the drivers to avoid things like drink driving, driving without a valid license and over speeding during this Easter season.
