A police officer attached to Entebbe international airport under the counter terrorism Unit is under investigations for his involvement in aggravated trafficking of a 21 year old girl.

The officer whose is under investigation is Samuel Wabusajja who was arrested by Aviation Police after he wanted to handover a victim who had returned from Dubai to a suspect of human trafficking

According to Agnes Igoye, the Deputy National Coordinator for Prevention of Trafficking in Persons in the Ministry of Internal Affairs, says the case stresses way back in February 2020 when a 21 year old girl of Lugbala tribe was trafficked to Dubai by a lady only identified as Cathy, a Ugandan national staying in Dubai with promises of getting her sweaty job.

Igoye says that upon reaching Dubai, the 21 year old victim had her travel documents confiscated by Cathy, who later forced her into commercial sex activities, but she managed to escape and good Samaritans helped her to return to Uganda in May 2022.

She says that as soon as the victim returned to Uganda at Entebbe International Airport, she was approached by Samuel Wabusajja, a police officer attached to Counter Terrorism Unit at Entebbe Airport who confiscated her documents and later handed her to one Jim Sseguya, another suspect involved in human trafficking.

Igoye adds that the victim insisted not to be taken by Sseguya Jim which prompted police officers attached to Aviation Police to intervene and took them to Entebbe police station where it was discovered that Sseguya had received orders from Cathy to detain the victim until when she pays Shs20 million she was demanding her.

Igoye added that they are currently investigating the case of aggravated human trafficking involving a police officer but her Ugandans going abroad to avoid using Visit Visas while going to Dubai because it’s one of the tricks used by traffickers.
