The opposition Forum for Democratic Change -FDC has condemned the manner in which their fellow party members were arrested on Monday morning.

FDC Women Leaders led by Soroti Woman MP Anna Adeke, Deputy Lord Mayor Doreen Nyanjura, Suzan Nanyonjo, Alice Amonyi and Okolo Madada among others held a peaceful demonstration showing dissatisfaction over the increasing prices of commodities and the continued detention of Dr Kiiza Besigye who was arrested last week on the same cause.

Police from Wandegeya rounded them off at Mulago roundabout and detained them at Wandegeya Police over charges of inciting violence according to Luke Oweyisigire the deputy Kampala Metropolitan police spokesperson

While addressing the press at the party headquarters in Najjanankumbi, the FDC Deputy Secretary General Harold Kaija expressed dissatisfaction over the manner in which these women were handled by the police without any kind of respect.

Meanwhile Kaija has called upon court to desist from being used by self seeking leaders who have always influenced the denial of bail to Ugandans citing Buganda road chief  Magistrate  Siena Owomugisha who directed Dr. Besigye to pay Shs30m cash bail while in court last week saying such acts violate the right of Ugandans to bail.

Dr. Kiiza Besigye was last week remanded to Luzira prison after he was arrested while protesting against rising commodity prices at Arua Park in Kampala and later charged in courts of law with inciting violence.
