Traffic police is set to distribute toll free stickers to all Passenger Service vehicles as part of its efforts to strengthen awareness and empower passengers to help in reducing cases of road carnage in the country.

 

Faridah Nampiima, the Traffic Police Spokesperson says that the distribution of these toll free stickers started on this Monday following an increase in the number of road carnages recorded in the last three weeks.

 

According to the previous two weeks traffic report of May 15th to 28th, 2022 a total of 696 road accidents were registered, killing 120 people and leaving over 200 people seriously injured.

 

Nampiima however emphasizes that the toll free stickers will be installed on all taxis, buses and coasters.

 

In a related development, Nampiima has confirmed the death of five inmates in a road accident that involved a prison truck registration number UG 0363U which happened on Monday morning in Luweero district.
