Police have embarked on hunting for a man who left his four children at home to pick grasshoppers and later found two of them dead in a fire outbreak.

 

The incident happened at Kimwanyi Zone, Katanga Parish in Kawempe division over the weekend.

 

Luke Owoyesigyire, the Kampala Metropolitan Deputy Police Spokesperson says that in an interrogation with the 12 year elder sister of the deceased, their father Muhammad Kibuuka left them with 6,000shs for food but before the incident, he had spent a week away from home.

 

He says that the suspect left the 12year old Shamirah Nakigudde care taking her three siblings who also left them to play and later they the home caught fire and two of them died including Shakur Ssentongo (7years) and Badru Tamale (4year) while Juma Kigongo Mugerwa survived.

 

Meanwhile, Police have also confirmed the death of a 36year old lady identified as Mariam Nannyonga a resident of Mbagala Cell, in Gomba Sub-county, Mukono district.

 

Owoyesigyire says the cause of the Nannyonga’s death was due to electronic short circuit that sparked off the fire that gutted her single roomed house and suffocated until her last breath.
