The Police have released the final report on the Freedom City Mall tragedy showing additional charges placed against the Music Promoter Abby Musinguzi alias Abitex of Abtex Promotions.

 

Fred Enanga, the Police Spokesperson says that Abitex is now facing 11 charges of negligence that caused the death of these people and 8 other charges of negligence that caused the injuries of revelers.

 

Abitex was last week sent to Luzira prison after being arraigned before Makindye Chief Magistrates’ Court and charged over the New Year eve tragedy at Freedom City Mall that left at least 10 people dead.

 

Enanga says that the evidence collected from the 9 categories of people including the victims, managers of Freedom City Mall and security among others pin Abitex and others still at large to have acted in a manner of negligence that endangered human life on 32st of December 2022 at Freedom City Mall in Namasuba in Wakiso district.

 

Enanga further says that the Freedom City Mall owner John Ssebalamu availed proof documents of agreement he entered into with Abitex before the concert showing the organizer didn’t follow.

 

The number of deaths from the Freedom City Mall tragedy has risen to 11after registering the death of a 3 year-old girl of one Immaculate Nakanjakko who passed on at Mulago Hospital over the weekend according to the police.

 

Meanwhile, Police have warned to embark on arresting all concert organizers and promoters that will stubbornly continue to defy the guidelines of organizing music events.
