The Criminal Investigations Directorate-CID and the Uganda Peoples Defense Force (UPDF) are conducting parallel investigations into the shooting of the Uganda Broadcasting Corporation (UBC) journalist Robert Kagolo.

Kagolo was shot at around 8pm on Thursday last week at his murdered brother, Samuel Musiitwa’s home at Bugembegembe village, Wakiso District.

Kagolo who was a former president of the Uganda Journalists’ Association-UJA, was gunned down as he returned Musiitwa’s children home after their father’s burial in Gomba District.

Radio Sapientia understands that CID and UPDF have decided to conduct separate investigations purposely to understand whether there was any motive since Kagolo had earlier claimed to have gathered more than enough evidence on who were behind the kidnap and murder of his elder brother Musiitwa.

Kagolo, according to a senior military officer who preferred anonymity, went to Kakiri barracks and asked for soldiers to protect his slain brother’s home as they went for burial at Namabye village in Gomba.

Musiitwa was abducted in his wife’s car and spent days missing until his abductors gave him a phone to alert his relatives on how he was going to be killed and directed them where they were to pick his body.
