Parliament has paid tribute to the fallen Second Deputy Prime Minister Ali Kirunda Kivejinja in a special parliamentary sitting on Tuesday where the legislatures identified the late as a democratic leader who greatly contributed to the pre and post independence of Uganda.

According to government, Kiveijinja succumbed to Covid-19 at Mulago National Referral Hospital on December 18th last year where his family rushed him when his health conditions deteriorated due to malaria yet he had other underling diseases like diabetes.

In the same sitting, parliament also paid tribute to the late Kyotera district Woman Member of Parliament Robinah Kasirye Ssentongo who passed on at the age of 58 last year on December 19 due to covid-19.

In a motion read by government first Prime Minister Moses Ali said that the late Kivejinja was a peace loving person who advocated for multiparty politics.

The motion was seconded by the Leader of Opposition (LoP) Betty Aol Ocan and Kabale Municipality MP Andrew Baryayanga.

Meanwhile parliament at the time under the chair ship of Speaker Rebecca Kadaga appreciated the works of the late Robina Ssentongo who was the first Kyotera woman Mp after the district being created in 2016.
