Katikkiro Mayiga unveils a committee to organize 66th Kabaka’s Birthday celebrations

The Katikiro of Buganda Charles Peter Mayiga has launched a five man committee to spearhead the preparation of the 66th Kabaka’s birthday with a call to the general public especially the youth to be vigilant towards the re-awakening of the fight against HIV/ AIDS.

He launched the committee at  Bulange Mengo noting that every April 13^th, the Kabaka of Buganda marks the celebrations of his birthday that comes with a line of activities aimed at consolidating his subjects and contributes to the social responsibility for the livelihood of all people within the kingdom.

The selected committee members include Owek.Prosperous Nankindu Kavuma who is the chairperson, Owek.Hamis Kakomo the deputy, Josephine Nantege the secretary, Richard kabanda and Baker ssejjengo as committee members.

The Katikkiro wasn’t clear on how some of the activities normally organized to mark the Kabaka’s birthday would be carried out due to covid19 pandemic like the annual marathon dubbed Kabaka birthday run, Prayers and entertainments among others.

This year’s theme will be reminding the youth about their role in the fight against HIV.

UNAIDS appointed  the Kabaka of Buganda Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II as the Good Will Ambassador in the fight against HIV in central  and East Africa.
