Parliament has set up regional Covid-19 task forces to beef up the Government National Task force in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic.

This has been revealed by the Deputy Speaker of Parliament Annet Anita Among while interfacing with journalists at Parliament saying that the task forces will be responsible for assessing the health impact of Covid-19, role of private health sector in the fight against the pandemic, sensitize the public and report to Parliament every after two weeks starting on June 29th .

The regional task forces set up include; the western region task force led by Dr. Joseph Ruyonga, Northern Region led by Dr. Charles Ayume, Eastern Region task force headed by Dr. Emmanuel Otalla and the Central region task force lead by Dr. Michael Bukenya.

Meanwhile, Among has also reiterated that Parliamentary sessions and other duties haven’t been closed but Parliament was temporarily suspended for two weeks to fumigate the premises.

On the issue of the Speaker of Parliament Jacob Oulanyah’s health, Among said that he is not sick but on a working leave of two months and after he will resume duties.
