The opposition in parliament has promised to resurrect the debate and tabling of a private members bill prohibiting trafficking and illegal selling of human organs.

In 2020, President Yoweri Museveni had promised that the Government was ready to table before Parliament the Uganda Human Organ Donation and Tissue Transplant Bill 2020 and cabinet approved it in 2021.

The intended law is supposed to provide for among others, regulation of removal, storage, transportation of human organs and establishing the Uganda organ transplant council.

However ,Kasanda district woman member of parliament who is also the shadow minister for Gender ,Labour and Social Development  Flavia Kalule Nabagabe says that the government has delayed bringing the bill to parliament and she is intending to table it as a private members bill  as soon as parliament resumes from recess.

Her move comes at the time when there’s high illegal transactions of human trafficking and sale of human organs world wide
