Uganda Aids Commissions -UAC says 35% of Ugandans with HIV/AIDs hide their positivity status which has led to the increase in HIV infections.

This has been revealed by the UAC Chairperson Nelson Musoba and his team while interfacing with the parliamentary committee on HIV/AIDs chaired by Namisindwa district Woman MP Sarah Netalisire.

The commission officials had appeared to present their challenges and status of HIV in the country.

Musoba said that the government has failed to fulfill its promise to fund the AIDs Commission up to 15 percent as opposed to the current 12% contrary to the agreed Abujja declaration.

He says the government contributes 150 billion shillings annually to the commission against the 1.4 million Ugandans in need of free ARVs, leaving the highest burden of financing to donors and the private sector which has affected the free delivery of ARVs to the patient of AIDs.

It’s from this that Musoba has requested the parliamentary AIDs committee to advocate for operationalizing of the AIDs Trust Fund to help to bridge the unfunded gap.
