Masindi security has picked up one of the suspects believed to have been part of the raid on a Uganda People’s Defense Forces-UPDF detach in Zombo district.

 

Norbert Oyirwoth 35, a resident of Pakwach district, was picked up from a Guest house in Kyatiri trading centre in Pakanyi Sub County in Masindi district on Tuesday night.

 

The Albertine Region Police spokesperson Julius Hakiza said that Oyirwoth was picked up by officers from Kyatiri police post and was immediately transferred to Masindi Central Police Station.

 

He says the suspect first disguised himself as a UPDF officer but when tasked produce his warrant card, he had none.

 

Over 100 men armed with machetes, bows and arrows invaded Zombo army detach on March 6, 2020 around 12:30 am and killed five UPDF soldiers, injured two others and torched various huts before fleeing. UPDF launched an operation in which 19 attackers were gunned down and 27 arrested.
