The opposition party, National Unity Platform has concluded its nationwide mobilization activities for the first phase.

 

This comes at a time when the Deputy Inspector General of Police, Maj Gen Tumusiime Katsigazi has just issued a statement suspending all NUP’s mobilization activities in the country.

 

Joel Ssenyonyi, the NUP Spokesperson also the Nakawa West Member of Parliament says that the party’s mobilization activities will be paused for two weeks and later resume for phase two as per their program.

 

According to Ssenyonyi, NUP leadership will be flying to the United States (US) to meet its supporters in the Diaspora for two weeks and after return for the nationwide mobilization campaigns and opening of party branch offices.

 

On the concluded activities, Ssenyonyi says that they have been successful with numbers of supporters reached to in the districts of Luwero, Kabale, Mbarara, Mayuge, Lira, and Arua among others which has been a surprise to the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) government.

 

Responding to police’s suspension of their activities, Ssenyonyi says they will write to the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Martin Okoth Ochola informing him of the next phase once they return from America.
